Myths surrounding low energy bulbs 'dispelled'

Myths surrounding energy-efficient light bulbs such as LED light strips and Smilight tubes have been dispelled by one expert.

Writing for the Vancouver Sun, president of the Bc Sustainable Energy Association Guy Dauncey noted that although LEDs are more expensive than CFLs, prices will fall and innovation will improve, which could make them the leading product in ten years time.

As for light quality being less effective, he stated that there are plenty of environmentally-friendly bulbs on the market that offer a warm yellow light, the same as old-fashioned illuminations.

Mr Dauncey also remarked that it is not true that sustainable lumens cannot be used with a dimmer switch as recent generations of the innovation are compatible with such devices and are easily available.

Meanwhile, the Memphis Commercial Appeal has noted that consumers are better off buying branded and higher quality low energy bulbs, as they will save more money than budget varieties because of their longer lifespan.
